COVID-19 Public Health Pandemic and increased levels of anxiety

Some members, caseworkers and Branch Officers too, will be experiencing increased levels of anxiety as a result of the fear and separation that accompanies social-distancing, restricted movements, self-isolation and also lone working from home.  These are natural responses to what is for many a frightening and extraordinary situation.  People worry for themselves but also for their loved ones, especially those who are vulnerable because of existing health issues or indeed old age.  People with a pre-existing depressive illness or anxiety will be more likely to experience coping challenges because of COVID-19.  If affected at all in this way then the advice is to contact the Education Support Partnership for independent confidential help and support on 08000 562 561 (free, any time from any phone) or email support@edsupport.org.uk   Caseworkers should routinely be using the UCU resource ‘Supporting Members with Mental Health Conditions and Issues’ – use this hyperlink to access this resource HERE
