This is the official blog of UCU Scotland. We are the largest trade union in the higher education sector in Scotland and across the UK represent over 120,000 academic and related members. UCU Scotland has autonomous status with the UK wide UCU, reflecting the distinctive character of Scotland’s educational system and devolution.
As well as representing our members UCU Scotland is a campaigning union, campaigning against the use of zero-hour contracts on campuses; for a higher education system free at the point of entry and without undergraduate tuition fees; and for better governance of our universities.
We are affiliated to the Scottish Trade Union Congress (STUC), playing our part in the STUC general council, annual congress, women’s, disabled, LGBT and black worker’s conferences
